Therapy
Occupational Therapy involves analysing the impact of illness or injury on an individuals ability to engage in their chosen occupations, roles and routines. These purposeful activities are the things that we chose to engage in that make us who we are, and when balanced lead to wellness and quality of life.
Occupational Therapists use a core range of skills to strive for increased independence, wellbeing and greater autonomy with the goal and main treatment modality being meaningful activities.
This may involve:​

Exploring the interaction between the individual, the environments they move in and the tasks they want or need to undertake.

Standardised Assessments, Functional Assessments & Activity Analysis.

Practice of functional tasks to promote recovery or learn compensatory strategies.

Therapeutic Use of Self.

Education about condition management and compensatory strategies.

Advice and assessment of specialist equipment.

Advocacy and support, including advice or supporting information with applications such as for benefits, bus passes etc.

About Danni
Danni qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2010 and has 15 years’ experience working as a Neuro Occupational Therapist, working with the brain injury charity Headway as a junior therapist, graduating to a band 6 therapist at the Royal Hospital for Neuro Disability, specialist in-patient facility in Putney, London, in 2012. Since then she has also worked for several years within the NHS in Stroke and Neuro specialist services, progressing to a band 7 clinical specialist as well as therapy team lead for Stroke and Neuro services at Brighton and Bournemouth.

Since 2021 she has worked as an independent practitioner as an associate for well-known providers of neuro rehabilitation, as well as directly with case managers or private individuals.
As an Occupational Therapist she is dual trained in physical and psychological health and her experience has included in-patient and community settings. This has allowed her to develop skills and knowledge in a wide breath of areas relevant to the recovery or condition management of individuals with neurological conditions, stroke and brain injury and other complex health conditions.

Activity analysis, grading activities to facilitate engagement in occupations.

Functional cognitive assessment, education on cognitive changes and strategy use, functional practice.

Seating and positioning, upper limb rehab, functional practice of physical activities.

Risk assessment including for community access, transition to independent living or engagement in occupations.

Supporting with vocational goals, including return to work, voluntary work or access to education.

In 2023 Danni completed an MSc in Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology, expanding her skills in assessing and supporting the cognitive and psychological aspects of brain injury and neurodiversity.
